For adults, 1 g to 1.5 g Mycophenolate Mofetil is taken by mouth twice daily. Pediatric dosing is based on body surface area (BSA) and is taken twice daily. Your dose may be adjusted if you have kidney impairment or neutropenia.

Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Mycophenolate Mofetil
The following medications may interact with Mycophenolate Mofetil: Oral contraceptives: Use of additional barrier contraceptive methods is recommended. Antacids: Give magnesium or aluminum hydroxide containing antacids at least 2h after Mycophenolate Mofetil. PPIs (lansoprazole, pantoprazole): May decrease the effectiveness of Mycophenolate Mofetil. Cyclosporine A, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, bile acid sequestrants (cholestyramine), rifampin as well as aminoglycoside, cephalosporin, fluoroquinolone, telmisartan, sevelamer and penicillins can decrease the effectiveness of Mycophenolate Mofetil.

The use of Mycophenolate Mofetil during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of first trimester pregnancy loss and an increased risk of birth defects. Mycophenolate Mofetil may reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Use of additional barrier contraceptive methods is recommended.
