How does Hympavzi work?
Hympavzi is a tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) antagonist. It works by blocking TFPI, a natural anticoagulant protein that typically prevents the body from forming blood clots efficiently. By inhibiting TFPI, Hympavzi rebalances the body’s clotting system, allowing for better blood clot formation and thus reducing bleeding frequency, without replacing the missing factors VIII or IX.
How do I take Hympavzi?
The recommended dosage of Hympavzi is:
- Loading dose: 300 mg (two 150 mg injections) by subcutaneous injection
- Maintenance dose: One week after the loading dose, initiate maintenance dosing of 150 mg every week by subcutaneous injection on the same day each week, at any time of day.
- Dose adjustment to 300 mg subcutaneous injection weekly can be considered.
