How does faricimab work?

How does faricimab work?

faricimab is an injectable medication that blocks two proteins called vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) and angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2). VEGF-A and Ang-2 promote abnormal blood vessel growth, swelling, and fluid leakage. In neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and diabetic macular edema (DME), the effects of these two proteins cause damage to parts of the eye that are important for vision. This damage can lead to vision loss. Blocking both VEGF-A and Ang-2 with faricimab leads to less abnormal blood vessel growth and swelling in the back of the eye.
