How does CORTISPORIN work?
CORTISPORIN is a combination of two antibiotics and a corticosteroid. Neomycin and polymyxin B are antibiotics that kill bacteria by stopping them from growing. Hydrocortisone is a corticosteroid that lowers swelling and itching.
How do I take CORTISPORIN?
CORTISPORIN cream and ointment should be applied 2 to 4 times daily. CORTISPORIN otic solution is given as 4 drops into the affected ear(s) 3 or 4 times a day. Cortisporin eye drops are given as 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 3 or 4 hours.
Is it safe for me to take CORTISPORIN?
CORTISPORIN is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have tuberculous, fungal, or viral lesions of the skin (herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella).
