What is Azor used for?

How does Azor work?
Azor is a combination of two medications that work together to lower blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It works by relaxing your blood vessels to lower your blood pressure. Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Angiotensin II is a hormone that normally attaches to its signaling proteins (receptors) in the body to raise your blood pressure. Olmesartan blocks this interaction from happening to lower your blood pressure.
How do I take Azor?
The typical starting dose is 5 mg/20 mg (amlodipine/olmesartan) by mouth once per day. Your provider will adjust your dose based on how well it’s helping your blood pressure and if you’re having side effects. The maximum dose is 10 mg/40 mg (amlodipine/olmesartan) once per day.
Is it safe for me to take Azor?
Azor is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have diabetes.
