- Liver problems (nausea or vomiting, stomach pain, unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, dark urine, yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes)
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Actos
The following medications may interact with Actos:
- Strong CYP2C8 inhibitors such as gemfibrozil increase the levels and effects of pioglitazone
- Topiramate and rifampin may decrease pioglitazone levels and effects.
- Alcohol
- Insulin secretagogues or insulin use may increase the risk for hypoglycemia
