What is Abecma used for?
Abecma is used to treat advanced multiple myeloma in adults (after at least two or more prior therapies).
How does Abecma work?
Abecma is a type of immunotherapy, also called CAR-T therapy. During treatment, your T-cells are removed from your body and sent to a lab. They are then modified to find and attack the multiple myeloma cancer cells in your body. Then the T-cells are infused back into your body to destroy cancer cells.
How do I take Abecma?
You will be given a chemotherapy regimen of cyclophosphamide and fludarabine and also premedicated with acetaminophen and an H1-antihistamine before an infusion of Abecma. You will then be receive an infusion of Abecma within the recommended dose range is 300 to 510 × 106 CAR-positive T cells

- Bleeding (from low platelet levels): nosebleeds, blood in urine, blood in stool, unexplained bruising
