When Zomig Nasal Spray attaches to these receptors, it’s thought to help lower blood vessel swelling in the brain. It’s also thought to help stop the release of pain signals through your nerves. This helps relieve migraine pain.
How do I take Zomig Nasal Spray?
The recommended starting dose of Zomig Nasal Spray is 2.5 mg. The maximum single dose is 5 mg. May repeat dose after 2 hours if needed; not to exceed 10 mg in any 24-hour period.

Zomig Nasal Spray is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. - History of ischemic heart disease or coronary artery vasospasm
- Symptomatic Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome or other cardiac accessory conduction pathway disorders
- History of stroke, transient ischemic attack, or hemiplegic or basilar migraine
- Peripheral Vascular Disease
- Ischemic bowel disease
Uncontrolled hypertension - Recent (within 24 hours) use of another 5-HT1 agonist (e.g., another triptan) or of an ergot-type medication.
MAO-A inhibitor used in past 2 weeks - Hypersensitivity to Zomig Nasal Spray

- Heart attack: chest or arm pain, shortness of breath, cold sweat
- Stroke: sudden weakness on one side of your body, headache, changes in your speech or vision, confusion
- Serotonin syndrome: high fever, racing heart, hallucinations, sudden changes in thought or mood, movement problems
- Allergic reaction: rash; hives; difficulty breathing or swallowing; swollen face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat
