Vericiguat is a sGC stimulator and is used to treat chronic (long-lasting) heart failure.
How does Vericiguat work?
Vericiguat is a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator. It turns on (stimulates) a protein in your body called sGC. This relaxes the blood vessels in the body and allows more blood to flow through. As a result, the heart is able to pump better and doesn’t have to work as hard.
How do I take Vericiguat?
Vericiguat is typically started at 2.5 mg by mouth once daily with food. Your provider will raise your dose of Vericiguat every few weeks as tolerated, to reach a target dose of 10 mg by mouth once daily.
Is it safe for me to take Vericiguat?
Vericiguat is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication in the following:
- Patients with concomitant use of other soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulators
- Pregnancy

Common side effects of Vericiguat:
- Low blood pressure
- Low red blood cell count
Vericiguat Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Vericiguat. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Extremely low blood pressure: feeling like you’re going to pass out, dizziness, cold and sweaty skin

The following medications may interact with Vericiguat:
- PDE-5 Inhibitors: Concomitant use is not recommended
