KYTRIL is an antiemetic that is used for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with cancer medications (chemotherapy) and radiation.
How does KYTRIL work?
KYTRIL is an antiemetic. It works by blocking the actions of serotonin in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting.
How do I take KYTRIL?
KYTRIL dose is 2 mg by mouth per day on the days you receive chemotherapy. It can either be taken as 2 mg once daily or 1 mg twice daily. The typical dose is 2 mg by mouth within 1 hour of radiation.
Is it safe for me to take KYTRIL?
KYTRIL is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you.
KYTRIL Common Side Effects
Common side effects of KYTRIL:
- Headache
- Weakness or lack of energy

KYTRIL Serious Side Effects

- Serotonin syndrome: Confusion, fever, fast heart rate, sweating, muscle stiffness or spasms

- QT prolongation has been reported with KYTRIL. Use of Kytril in patients concurrently treated with drugs known to prolong the QT interval and/or are arrhythmogenic may result in clinical consequences
