This medication targets and blocks VEGFR proteins in cancer cells that are involved in providing blood supply to the tumor. By blocking these proteins, axitinib (axitinib) prevents blood vessels from forming and supplying blood to the tumor. This helps to slow and stop cancer growth.

  • Serious bleeding: unusual bleeding, bleeding that’s difficult to stop, easy bruising, blood in urine or stool, black or tarry stool, vomiting blood, stomach cramps
  • Tears in the gut: fever, chills, intense stomach pain or cramps, bloating, vomiting blood, red or black stool
